We are a small but successful prefix located in the picturesque Coromandel New Zealand; dedicated to breeding and exhibiting healthy and intelligent Vastgotaspets of harmonious beauty with particular attention to conformation, temperament and type. Breeding with New Zealand foundation bloodlines and incorporating sound  imported bloodlines from highly respected kennels in Finland, Sweden, United Kingdom and Australia. 

Vanaheim is breeder & exhibitor of some of New Zealands top  winning Swedish Vallhunds with a number of dogs (either bred by or associated with our prefix) being successfully shown throughout New Zealand.  We are proud to have bred and own New Zealands only bitch to win Reserve Exhibit in Group to date as well as, Class in Show winners, National Show Best of Breed and Specialty Best of Breed and Class in Group winning Swedish Vallhunds.

As a qualified Veterinary Nursing with many years of service in the animal sector including the SPCA, happy healthy dogs are an important priority.  All our dogs partake of health checks, yearly eye examinations and Penn Hip scoring procedures.  Our dogs are some of the only genetically profiled Swedish Vallhunds in NZ to aid in future breeding decisions and help slow inbreeding depression.  This is not to be confused with DNA profiling which is a simple form of varifing parents of a litter.

Any litter we breed is carefully planned to ensure the quality and overall health of the puppies is paramount. 

We employ Pat Hastings methods of assessment of puppies at 8 weeks as well as puppy brain development techniques, and are privilaged to be working with and training under one of New Zealands top dog trainers and animal behaviourists.

Badger is our newest boy on the block; bred by us and co-owned with Vallarity, his dam is NZCH Multi Class in Group Winner Valkrista Alatna, and his sire is the stunning NZCH Hogalids Dexter (Imp Swe). 

Badger recieved a very nice critique for a young dog from visiting Swedish Judge and Breed Specilist Anita Whitmarsh early this year and we look forward to watching him grow, develop and mature.  

Badger is excelling at obedience and we look forward to gaining our CGC with him later this year before moving onto agility. 

We are thrilled to have this very special boy living with us ! Special thanks to his sires owner Lynne Henry for making our little miracle possible.

Good overall impression, gives a slightly long appearance, masculine, excellent bone, good head, strong muzzle, excellent topline, going down behind withers, excellent rear end, a little high in hock, could have better spring of rib although acceptable length, a good width of thigh, could have tighter feet, sufficient pastern, good double coat of good length, moves well, good tail-set, good markings and nice temperament.

Vanaheim welcomes our beautiful baby girl Flare to our family, she is the daughter of our outstanding bitch NZ CH Mulit class in group and national class in group winner Valkrista Alatna and our handsome young stud Vallarity Day Tripper.  She carries a combination of some wonderful imported BIS winning lines, and is a sweet natured loving girl who exhibits fantastic quality and type.  Flare is a truly stunning girl and from her first litter has produced two outstanding girls Vanaheim Contrary Mary exp USA and NZ CH Mulit Class in Group, In Show and Reserve of Group Winner Vanaheim Making Mischief.  Both girls have gone on to fly the flag for NZ Valls oversea's and here at home with their spectacular showing achievements.

Following in her grandmother, grandparents and great great grandparents footsteps Harmony has achieved more then we ever dreamed.  She is a  Multi Class In Group Winner at All Breed and Specialty Shows and the only Swedish Vallhund bitch to have won a Reserve in Group in NZ.  Harmony received an outstanding critique from visitng Breed Specilist & Judge Mrs Anita Whitmarsh and  has surpassed all our expectations.  Harmony is co-owned and much loved by her family, she loves to herd and is often seen working the cattle or out visiting the elderly as a therapy dog. 

We couldn't be more proud of our fabulous little girl.

Ultra feminine, of excellent size, good bone, very good proportions, although loin could be slightly shorter, well shaped head, lovely ear set, good bite, muscular neck with good topline, needs to have better muscle tone, good length of rib cage, good second thigh, wish for better lay of shoulder, good fore-chest, nice feet and pastern, good coat quality, nice double coat and undercoat, top coat could be harsher, good length of coat and excellent markings, moves nice and easy with good drive, good temperament and attitude, good tail set and overall good balance.

"Ash" (NZCH Valkrista Alatna) joined us in 2006 and immediately started her winning ways !! A Multi Class In Group Winner at All Breed Shows, she has surpassed all our expectations and is a Class In Group Winner at National Show Level.  Ash is a very sound bitch exhibiting wonderful breed type with loads of presence.  A cheeky girl with an abundance of vall humour Ash is a definite show off and a delight to have around. She is a much loved member of our family and endears herself to everyone with her gentle nature.

"Sparky"  (Vallarity Day Tripper) bounced into our lives and quickly became known as the pocket rocket, none of our other valls have ever been able to out run him !  
He is a wonderful example of the breed, exhibing great type and comformation.  He comes from a long line of BIS, Class in Show and Multiple Group winning Swedish Vallhunds from around the world, and brings with him some exciting new bloodlines from, Sweden, Finland and Australia.  
Sparky as his name implies is full of vim and vigour !! He loves long walks, fun in the snow and is always up for a good ball game. 
We would like to extend our thanks to his breeder Lynne Henry for entrusting us with this lovely boy.
"Moko" (Aust & NZCH Bodeneis Foxy Folkmar - Imp Finland) is a wonderful addition to our breeding programme, owned in partnership with Amanda of Trendam Swedish Vallhunds in Australia, Natalie and Lynne, here in New Zealand.  
Moko was shown to his NZ title while enjoying the kiwi lifestyle on the farm, lots of outings, inside living and the company of the Vanaheim pack. 
A huge thank you Amanda for sending us this lovely boy, and in partnersip with the late Leonie Darling for his original importation from Kirsi in Finland.  Moko has already proven himself by producing In Group and In Show winners in Australia, from only one litter.
In NZ he has produced one litter for Lynne, with pups winning at Group and Class In Show level.  His grandchildren are also excelling in the show ring.
